Greetings earthlings! It's that time of the week again, bringing us to #38 here in my Song-of-the-Week journey.
This week I took on a great song written by bob Dylan. I don't have a lot of Dylan songs in my repertoire. And while I don't particularly care for him as a performer, his songwriting is certainly something to notice. So I knew I needed to find some of his songs to cover. And earlier this year a talented young musician by the name of Sarah Jarosz released her second album, Follow Me Down. On that album was her version of "Ring them Bells" (from Dylan's 1989 album Oh Mercy). It's a beautiful melody with intriguing lyrics, so I thought I'd take a tackle at it, using mostly her version for inspiration.
Still chugging along on the trusty Taylor 716ce. It's a spring 2009 limited edition, so it's got Madagascar rosewood b/s and a sitka top. The strings were changed about a week ago, and the crisp snap of the new strings really pair well with the madrose, IMO. It's a wonderful instrument, almost a GAS killer. Mr. Frog went artsy on this one. Cheers!
Bel isi,
-kyle
